Policies

How we work, and how we protect you.

Confidentiality, fees, fraud protection, compliance and what to do if something goes wrong.

  1. 01Confidentiality

Everything you tell us about your business is treated as strictly confidential — whether or not you become a client.

    • Buyers first see an anonymous summary that doesn't name your business.
    • Your name and details are only shared after a buyer signs a confidentiality agreement (NDA) and you approve that buyer.
    • We check buyers before introducing them, and you can say no to anyone.
    • Your staff, customers and suppliers won't hear about the sale from us.
  2. 02Fees and payment

Our fees are simple: R45,000 to start, and 3% of the sale price only if your business sells. Every fee is confirmed in writing in your engagement letter before you pay anything.

There are no hidden costs. If we ever need to spend money on your behalf, such as a specialist report, we'll ask you first.

  3. 03Payment fraud warning

Criminals sometimes pretend to be advisers and send fake banking details. To protect you:

    • We will never change our banking details by email alone.
    • Before paying us, phone our office on the number on this website to confirm the account.
    • We only email from addresses ending in @dlegal.co.za.
    • If something feels wrong, stop and call us. We can't be responsible for money paid into an account we didn't confirm by phone.
  4. 04Knowing our clients (FICA)

South African law requires us to confirm who we work with and where money comes from. Before we act for you, and before we introduce a buyer, we'll ask for identity documents, company registration details and proof of address. We may also check where a buyer's money comes from.

We won't take part in any deal we reasonably suspect involves money laundering, fraud or other crime, and we may have to report it.

  5. 05Conflicts of interest

We act for you, the seller. We won't secretly act for the buyer in the same deal or take a hidden payment from them. If a possible conflict comes up, we'll tell you straight away and only carry on if you agree in writing.

  6. 06Anti-bribery

We don't offer, pay, ask for or accept bribes or improper payments of any kind, and we expect the same of everyone we work with.

  7. 07Cookies

We only use the cookies and similar storage the site needs to work and stay secure — for example, keeping your session secure. We don't use advertising cookies, we don't track you across other sites, and we don't sell your browsing data.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site should still work as normal.

  8. 08Website accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use screen readers or keyboards only. If anything is hard to use, please tell us at support@dlegal.co.za and we'll fix it or help another way.

  9. 09Social media

Our social media pages share general information only — not advice for your situation. Please never post confidential details about your business in comments or public messages; email or call us instead.

  10. 10Complaints

If you're unhappy with anything we've done, we want to hear about it. Email support@dlegal.co.za or call 087 153 6207. We'll acknowledge your complaint within two working days, look into it properly, and give you a written answer within 14 days. If you're still not satisfied, you're free to take the matter further through the relevant regulator or ombud.

  11. 11Changes to these policies

We may update these policies from time to time. The latest version always lives on this page. If a change affects an engagement you've signed, the engagement letter wins until we both agree otherwise.
